In 1975 Zeiss formed a partnership with Japanese lens manufacturer Yashica.
Contax lenses come in AEG, AEJ, MMG, and MMJ versions. “G” versions were made in Germany while “J” versions were made in Japan. MM versions, (from both Germany & Japan) changed the style of the aperture blades and added different coatings.
Zeiss T coating is found on Hasselblads, Super Speeds and Standard Speeds. The big difference between different versions is the ninja star bokeh of the AE. Ninja star bokeh is a product of the aperture blade design, and it divides opinions. MM versions are easy to identify bygreen-coloured smallest f-stop number. Where AEG versions have all numbers white. Contax Zeiss lenses have a pleasant organic rendering on modern digital sensors.
